1st Day

Went websurfing, found a simple recipe for morons for a sour dough starter. Basically just flour and warm water. Went to a kitchen supply house, surlatable, and purchased a 2 quart plastic commercial storage container with lid, to make and store the starter. After preparing some nice Wahoo that a neighbor caught this past weekend, I threw some warm water and flour into the plastic container. I cheated and tossed about a 1/4 packet of yeast in as well. Voila, sourdough starter, or at least the beginnings of one. In reading some blogs on the subject, I've found that others have named their yeast infections, I'd love to hear some suggestions on the matter. Impatient as I am, I fed it just 3 hours after I started the starter. The blog I read said that it was basically impossible (except for 100+ degree heat) to kill the starter...so in a typical American way, I fed it some fast-food when it wasn't even hungry. I hope that it doesn't develop a gut. Tomorrows task will be to name the starter so that I can refer to it as something other than 'it'. I think that using a female name will be more interesting to write about, in the long run. I just tried to take a photo of my starter in her infancy but both batteries on my camera were exhausted. I'm looking forward to making some real sour dough pancakes and fresh bread.
